Emergency Unit Health Board

1-      Dear visitors: Please adhere to the timetable set by the triage nurse, and take your turn.

2-      Do not crowd the triage or patient admission units, and use the chairs in the waiting room.

3-      If the patient has suffered an accident, create an outline as soon as possible.

4-      In case you have a specific condition such as a communicable disease, inform the nurse and doctor in charge in the triage unit.

5-      Inform the medical practitioner or nurse if you are on aspirins, warfarin, and diabetes and blood pressure medications.

6-      Inform the doctor and nurse in case you have allergies to certain medications, or have undergone a surgical procedure.

7-      A room will be assigned to you when you are given emergency care. Keep bed railings raised to prevent the danger of falling from bed. In case you need the presence of a nurse, press the nurse call button at the head of bed.

8-      Before getting out of bed, sit on the bed for a few minutes with your feet balancing from the bed.

9-      Patients need a quiet and peaceful atmosphere more than anything. Please keep silence.

10-   For a quick recovery in case of urinary stones, pay attention to the following guidelines:

-          To determine the size and location of urinary stones, have the ultrasound and any other scans and images with you.

-          Increase your fluid intake and movement.

-          Keep the use of salt, coke, and vitamin supplements (such as calcium, vitamin C, and D) to a minimum.

-          Seek medical care if you notice urinary infections since the recurrence of urinary infections can lead to urinary stone.

-          In case you have been prescribed antibiotics, or ureter dilation medications, follow the prescription.

-          Refer to the pathology unit for diagnosis when you pass stone; otherwise, you should visit the urology unit.

11-   To prevent falling out of the bed, or accelerating medical care, do not sleep on the bed next to the patient.

Health Board of Men’s Surgery Unit

1-      You must maintain the ID bracelet, usually worn on the hand until hospital discharge.

2-      Visiting times are 3 pm to 4.30 pm, and hospital discharge times are from 8 am to 7 pm.

3-      Hospital bed rails must be raised at all times to prevent bed falls.

4-      Sit for 10 minutes, with your feet balancing from the bed, before deciding to leave your bed.

5-      Attendants (Next of Kin) are expected to notify the nurse before taking any measures.

6-      Know the name of your physical practitioner and the shift nurse.

7-      Enquire from your nurse concerning the activities and type of nutrition.

8-      In general wards, women are not allowed to attend to men and vice versa. (except in Critical Care Units)

9-      Due to potential nausea or sickness after operation, try not eat anything the night before.

10-   Before going to the operation room, remove any jewelry, dental prostheses, or any other prosthetics.

11-   Inform the medical practitioner or nurse if you are on aspirins, warafins, and diabetes and blood pressure medications.

12-   Please inform the medical practitioner or nurse about drug allergies  and history of surgical procedures you have undergone.

13-   Inform the medical practitioner or nurse if you use illegal drugs. Do not smoke 24 hours before operation.

14-   Do not consume food after surgery, unless instructed by the nurse.

15-   Throat pain, nausea, and surgical site pains are normal after surgery. If you are nauseated, turn you to one side to avoid gastric secretions to the throat.

16-   Support the surgical site with hand when coughing.

17-   You are allowed to bring in your phone. However, we are not responsible for maintaining any personal effects and other valuable items.

18-   Yellow bins are for infectious and hospital wastes, used by the hospital personnel, and blue bins are for any other general and household wastes.

19-   The patient need calm and silence before anything. Please contribute to a calm and quiet environment.

20-    Do not sleep on the patient bed to avoid bed falls and accelerate medical care.

Board of Health for the Dialysis Unit

1-      Observe personal hygiene by taking a bath before wearing dialysis clothing and hospital visitation

2-      Control your weight before and after dialysis.

3-      Do not lower the time for dialysis to less than 4 hours. (unless under the instruction of the medical practitioner).

4-      Drink as much water as to slake thirst and do not drink in excess of the fluid intake limit. (soup, broth, juicy fruits are all fluids)

5-      Avoid salty foods (Observe a low sodium diet).

6-      Inform the medical practitioner or dialysis personnel if the vibration or the sound of fistula disappears.

7-      Take seriously the dislodgement of the catheter securing sutures, and take urgent measures to repair the suture.

8-      Do not allow the hand on which fistula is worn to be used for the purpose of taking blood pressure or blood specimen collection.

9-      Report injuries, inflammation and redness around the site of fistula to the medical practitioners.

10-   In case of fever, shivering, heat, and infection discharge from the location of the catheter, inform the medical practitioner.

11-   Do not allow your catheter to be used for blood specimen collection, administering injections or IVs.

12-   You can get help from the nutrition therapist to address your dietary needs.

13-   Have your tests taken every month, every three months, and every six months, based on the dialysis schedule.

14-   Do not discontinue to add to your medications, and follow your doctor’s instructions.

15-   Eprex injection is used to address anemia. Store it in the fridge or an ice box.

16-   Bring your insurance booklet for every session of dialysis. 

17-   To control injections, and for contributing to the wellbeing and safety of patients, your attendants are not allowed to enter the unit.

18-   After dialysis, and before getting out of bed, sit on the bed with your legs balancing from the bed for 3-5 minutes.

19-   In case you have been given a red or yellow bracelet by the unit, wear it on the hand to which the fistula is not connected in dialysis sessions.

20-   You receive the support of the Dialysis Patients’ Society, which is located in Sheshgilan St., near Children’s Hospital.

Obstetric and Gynecology Health Board

1-      Pay attention to the amount of bleeding. Report excessive bleeding, or blood clots discharge to the midwife in charge.

2-      Babies must be breastfed only for a duration of six months, and avoid supplemental feedings.

3-      Keep your and your baby’s ID bracelets, and drop them into a yellow bin at the time of discharge since carrying them home can lead to infections.

4-      Wash your hands before breastfeeding, and after using the toilet.

5-      Do not stay in a sitting position for too long: lie on your back until 24 hours after C-Section to avoid numbness.

6-      Before getting out of bed, stay on the bed in a sitting position with your legs balanced from the bed for 10 minutes, and subsequently get out of bed with the help of an attendant.

7-      Take walks with the help of a nurse every two hours.

8-      It is recommended that you consume fluids, canned juice (peaches, pears, and figs), and non-carbonated yogurt drinks, and avoid fruit juice.

9-       Empty your bladder approximately every 4 hours.

10-   When resting, keep the siderails raised.

11-   Press the nurse call button if you need a nurse, so that the midwife can be contacted.

12-   Pay attention to wet floor signs while walking in the unit.

13-   To get the birth certificate from the admission unit, have the parents’ Birth certificates and baby physical examination certificate with you.

14-   You are allowed to bring in your phone. However, we are not responsible for the upkeeping of personal effects and valuable items belonging to you.

15-   Opposite gender attendants are not allowed in the unit with the exception of critical care units.

16-   Yellow bins are for infectious and hospital wastes, used by the hospital personnel, and blue bins are for any other general or household wastes.

17-   Visiting hours are from 3 pm to 4:30 pm, and discharge hours are from 8 am to 7 pm.

18-   Patients need peace and silence more than anything. Please maintain silence.

19-   Do not sleep next to the patient to prevent bed fall.
