Operating Room

The operating room is a sterile place in hospital which designed only for personnel of sterile ward and surgical team.

The operating room is in service of patients who need surgery and its activity is limited to the following two operational fields:

Active surgical operations (optional)

Emergency surgical operations

Amiraal Momeneen Hazrat Ali Hospital of Tabriz with five general operating rooms and one emergency operating room is active for 24 hours in the following operational fields:

General surgical operations such as appendectomy, mastectomy, laparotomy, laparoscopy, morbid obesity, ….

Urological surgery operations such as TURT, TUL, TURP, PCNL (removal of kidney stone in closed surgery) and nephrectomy and varicocele,…

The common surgeries related to chest and thorax includes: Surgeries of esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, and thoracoscopy

Normal vascular surgeries include: Arteriovenous fistula, varicose veins treatment, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, vascular aneurysms

Head and neck surgeries such as ear surgery, nose surgery, sinus endoscopy, chip stenosis treatment, tongue and oral cancer, adenotonsillectomy

Gynecological surgery includes cesarean section, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, curettage,….

Maxillofacial surgery includes cleft lip and palate treatment

Orthopedic surgeries such as joint replacement surgery and arthroscopy,…

Each operating room includes following equipment:

The surgery bed located in the middle of room with capability of adjustment of height and deviation toward special side in order to have the different surgical positions.

Operating room lights (surgical lighting). They should create bright lighting without shadow. This surgical lighting should not result in eye fatigue.

The anesthesia machine is located on top of headboard of bed. This machine is connected to the patient through pipes and help patient’s breathing during the surgery and the monitors facilitates the measurement process of mixed gasses in anesthesia process.

The sterile surgical tools are located on sterile table during the operations.

The electrocautery device (ECU) in the operating room creates the chance to cut the tissue with high-pressure flow which simultaneously cut off the blood flow in order to minimize the bleeding. 

A suction machine should be available in the operating room for removing the surgical fluids and secretions of incision     

 Monitoring device facilitates the control of vital signs of patient and helps the anesthesia team to administer the anesthesia of patient and being informed about status of patient.
